What this eBay calculator does

This tool estimates the economics of one eBay order and separates revenue, final value fees, fixed order charges, promoted listing spend, seller costs, net profit, margin, ROI and break-even revenue.

How to use it

Enter the item price, buyer-paid shipping, product cost and your delivery expense. Replace the sample final value rate and fixed charge with the values for your eBay site, store subscription, category and order total.

Worked order example

A 40 sale with 12 product cost, 6 delivery, a 13.6% final value rate, 0.40 order fee and 2% return reserve produces a transparent deduction list. Add a promoted listing rate only when that campaign receives attribution.

Final value fee rules

eBay normally calculates a category-dependent percentage on the total amount of sale plus a per-order amount. Thresholds, store plans, taxes, international charges, performance penalties and special categories can change the actual fee.

Promoted listings and shipping

Advertising is modeled as a percentage of revenue so you can test different promoted listing rates. Buyer-paid shipping increases revenue and may enter the fee base, while the postage you purchase belongs in shipping cost.

Reading profit, margin and ROI

Net profit subtracts marketplace and operating costs from revenue. Margin relates that profit to the order total; ROI compares it with product, delivery, advertising and other funded costs. Break-even revenue covers all entered assumptions.

Limits, sources and privacy

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it include the eBay per-order fee?
Yes. The fixed order charge is separate from the percentage rate and can be changed for the order value and marketplace.
Can it calculate Promoted Listings cost?
Yes. Enter the advertising percentage attributed to the sale; use zero for an organic order without that fee.
Why must I edit the final value rate?
eBay rates can vary by category, threshold, site and store plan, so one default cannot represent every seller.
