What this calculator does

Estimates profit for an Amazon sale under either Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) or Fulfilled by Merchant (FBM). It separates revenue, Amazon fees, product and operating costs, net profit, margin, return on investment and break-even revenue.

How to use it

Choose FBA or FBM and a display currency. Enter the selling price, any shipping charged to the customer, product cost, referral percentage, fulfillment cost, storage, inbound shipping, advertising, a refund reserve and other per-unit costs. Replace every default with the current rate for your marketplace, category and product.

Formula and example

Revenue equals selling price plus shipping charged. Referral fee equals revenue multiplied by the referral rate. Net profit equals revenue minus referral fee, fulfillment, storage, product, inbound shipping, advertising, refund reserve and other costs. With a 40 sale and the default costs, estimated profit is 8.70, margin is 21.75% and break-even revenue is about 29.52.

FBA versus FBM

FBA normally uses Amazon's fulfillment fee and may add storage and inbound placement costs. FBM uses the seller's own pick, pack and shipping cost. Switching mode changes the suggested fulfillment amount only; all fields remain editable so the model can match the actual offer.

Fee accuracy

Amazon referral fees vary by category and price thresholds, while FBA charges vary by marketplace, size tier, shipping weight, storage period and optional services. The defaults are planning examples, not an automatic fee quote. Check Amazon's official pricing pages and the Seller Central fee preview before making a decision.

Reading the results

Profit margin compares net profit with sale revenue, while ROI compares profit with the seller-funded product, inbound, advertising and other costs. Break-even revenue is the revenue needed to cover the entered fixed costs and percentage-based reserves.

Limitations and privacy

The estimate does not model VAT or sales tax, currency conversion, long-term storage, returns processing, reimbursements, tiered referral rules or account-level charges unless you enter them in the available cost fields. Calculations run locally in your browser and the entered values are not uploaded.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this calculate both FBA and FBM profit?
Yes. Select FBA for Amazon fulfillment costs or FBM for your own fulfillment cost, then enter the actual values for the offer.
Are the default Amazon fees guaranteed to be current?
No. They are editable examples. Fees vary by marketplace, category, dimensions, weight and services, so confirm them in Amazon's official pricing and Seller Central.
What is ROI in this calculator?
ROI is estimated net profit divided by product cost, inbound shipping, advertising and other seller-funded costs. Margin instead divides profit by revenue.
