What this tool does

Generates one or more random MAC (Media Access Control) addresses in the standard `XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX` hexadecimal format, using the Web Crypto API to pick each byte.

How to use it

Set how many addresses you need and they appear automatically, one per line; copy the whole list with one click.

Worked example

A generated address might look like `3E:A1:9C:0F:22:B7`: six pairs of hex digits (00–FF each), separated by colons, for a 48-bit value in total.

What a MAC address normally represents

On real hardware, a MAC address is a 48-bit identifier burned into a network interface, where the first three bytes (the OUI, Organizationally Unique Identifier) identify the manufacturer and the last three bytes are assigned by that manufacturer — this tool generates all six bytes randomly, so the result is not tied to any real manufacturer's OUI range.

Common uses

Random MAC addresses are useful for network configuration mockups, populating test or demo data, documentation examples, and simulating multiple distinct devices in test environments without exposing real hardware identifiers.

Limitations

This generates a fully random 48-bit value formatted as a MAC address; it does not follow IEEE OUI allocation rules, does not set the locally-administered or multicast bits that real virtual MAC addresses often use, and does not check for collisions against any existing address list.

Privacy

Generation happens entirely in your browser using the Web Crypto API; nothing is sent to a server or stored.

Frequently Asked Questions

What format are the generated MAC addresses in?
Each address is generated in the standard hexadecimal format XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX, such as 3E:A1:9C:0F:22:B7.
Can I generate a batch of MAC addresses at once?
Yes, set the count you need and the tool instantly generates that many random MAC addresses together.
Is this tool safe to use for sensitive testing?
Yes, every address is generated locally in your browser with the Web Crypto API — nothing is uploaded or stored, and it's completely free with no sign-up.
