What this tool does
Calculates how many working hours and working days fall between a start and end date and time, counting only hours inside your defined workday and skipping Saturdays and Sundays entirely.
How to use it
Set a From and To date and time, and a workday start and end time (like 09:00 to 17:00). Reset returns to the default example: Monday 2026-01-05 09:00 through Friday 2026-01-09 17:00, with a 09:00–17:00 workday.
Worked example
With the defaults, the range runs exactly from the start of the workday on Monday to the end of the workday on Friday — five full weekdays at 8 hours each — giving 40.00 business hours and 5.00 business days. Extending the To date to the following Monday at 17:00 would add one more full 8-hour day (2 weekend days in between contribute nothing) for 48.00 hours and 6.00 days.
Method
The tool walks day by day from the start date to the end date. For each day that isn't a Saturday or Sunday, it builds that day's work window (from your workday-start to workday-end time) and intersects it with your overall From–To range, adding the overlapping minutes. Business days is simply the total business hours divided by the length of one workday.
Weekends and partial days
Weekend days contribute zero business hours regardless of whether your From–To range technically includes them. Partial days at the start or end of the range are handled correctly too — if you start at 13:00 on a day with a 09:00–17:00 workday, only the remaining 4 hours of that day count.
Limitations
This excludes weekends but has no concept of public holidays — a holiday that falls on a weekday is still counted as a full working day. It also assumes one fixed daily work window for every weekday in the range, so it can't model different hours on different days or multiple shifts. If your end time or workday end isn't after the corresponding start, the tool shows an error instead of a negative result.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Does this exclude weekends automatically?
- Yes — Saturdays and Sundays never contribute business hours, regardless of the From and To dates you choose.
- Does it also exclude public holidays?
- No, this calculator only knows about weekends. A holiday that falls on a weekday still counts as a full working day here; there's no holiday list to configure.
- What happens with a partial first or last day?
- It's handled correctly — if your range starts partway through a workday, only the hours from that start time to the end of the workday count for that day, and the same applies to a partial final day.
- Why do I get an error instead of a result?
- The tool needs the To date/time to be after the From date/time, and the workday end time to be after the workday start time. Check both before trying again.
