QR Code Reader

Reads a QR code from an uploaded or dropped-in image and decodes it back into the underlying text, URL, or other data it represents, using canvas-based image processing and the jsQR library.

Drag an image onto the drop zone or click to upload one; the decoded content appears automatically once the QR code is found. A copy button lets you grab the result without retyping it.

A QR code that encodes `https://example.com/menu` decodes to that exact URL as plain text, exactly as if you had scanned it with a phone camera — you can then read it, copy it, or open it manually, without pointing a camera at the actual code.

Checking a QR code's destination before scanning it with your phone is a useful safety habit, since QR codes are a common phishing and scam vector — a code stuck over a parking meter or menu can silently point somewhere unexpected, and decoding it here reveals the real destination first.

Beyond plain URLs, QR codes commonly encode Wi-Fi credentials, contact cards (vCard), calendar events, payment links, and plain text messages — this tool decodes and displays whatever text data is embedded, regardless of its specific content type.

Decoding depends on the QR code being reasonably clear, in focus, and not too heavily damaged or obscured; very low-resolution screenshots, extreme skew, or partial codes may fail to decode even though the underlying image processing supports common formats like PNG, JPEG, and WebP.

All decoding happens locally in your browser using canvas-based image processing; the image file is never uploaded to a server, which matters since QR codes can encode sensitive information.
